Only half the adult population of the UK have wills and just a quarter have powers of attorney, according to a new survey by the Standard Life. A random selection of more than 1,000 adults were interviewed for the survey. Julie Hutchinson estate planning specialist at Standard Life commented "if people knew more about the rules which apply if they die without a will, they would be more active. Some give very detailed instructions and take matters into their own hands, but they are a minority."
