Lord Judge the Lord Chief Justice has said that the use of "an unobtrusive, handheld, virtually silent piece of modern equipment" could be used in court. This will mean that people would be able to report on court proceedings using twitter, or text messages as long as proceedings were not disrupted.
The use of this technology would however be subject to the approval of the judge in each case.
