Home Information Packs (HIPS) Scrapped

Good news for the housing market. The Government announced on the 20th May 2010 that they were scrapping HIPs with immediate effect.Up and till then anyone wanting to put their house on the market had to have a Home Information Pack which could cost anything from £250 to £350.From the 20th all you will now need to put your property on the market is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which will cost around £70 to £100.

The Housing Minister Grant Shapps said:"By suspending home information packs today, it means that the home sellers will be able to get on with marketing their home without having to shell out hundreds of pounds upfront. We are committed to greener housing so from now on all that will be required will be a simple energy performance certificate."
